I want to travel. I want to go abroad if I can. But with the COVID-19 pandemic, that's not possible for the time being. But, I still want to go. Vietnam Marley in Futenma, Ginowan City, will satisfy that desire to travel. After eating authentic Vietnamese food with plenty of vegetables and a large portion, the image of Ao Dai came to mind at the first bite!
Vietnam in Ginowan?!
Vietnam Marley is located near the Futenma intersection in Ginowan City. The building is adjacent to the San-A Futenma branch, so if you head towards San-A, you should be able to find it without getting lost.
When you go up to the second floor where the shop is, you're already in Vietnam. The retro Asian furniture and the windows decorated with Hoi An's specialty lanterns. I remember seeing a view like this in the guidebook! You're sure to be excited by this wonderful space.
As mentioned above, the menu is quite substantial even just for the lunch set. From the familiar pho to banh mi, all are priced at around 1,000 yen, which is a nice touch. This time I ordered two types of noodle dishes, bun cha(Bún chả)and beef pho. There were a few groups of customers in the restaurant, so I had to wait a little...
Plenty of vegetables! A hearty lunch
Ta-da! This set does take a while to prepare! The contents were convincing. Hand-made grilled meatballs in a dipping sauce, noodles, plenty of vegetables with deep-fried spring rolls, and Chè for dessert.
Bun Cha is a dish made by dipping slightly sour Vietnamese rice noodles (bun) in a sweet and spicy sauce. The correct way to eat it is to mix the noodles, vegetables, nuts, fried onions, and squeezed lemon into the sauce.
As instructed, I mixed all the ingredients into the dipping sauce and ate it... Yes! Ngon quá! (delicious)! Every time I slurped the noodles, the sweet and spicy sauce, the aroma of coriander, and the sourness of lemon all came together to give me a surge of deliciousness. The texture and aroma of the coarsely minced meatballs were also great!
The next dish, the beef pho, Pho Bo Lunch, was also delicious. The gentle soup had the warmth of a Vietnamese mother. It was so comforting. Not only was the pho delicious, but the braised pork and takana rice that came with the set was also superb. The sweet and spicy pork was topped with a generous amount of stir-fried takana, nuts, and fried onions on top of the rice. If you like nuts, you should definitely try it.
Near the counter there are five types of authentic Vietnamese seasonings, including chili paste and nuoc mam, so you can add a little bit to suit your dish.
If you accidentally put too much chilli in your drink, you can go to the self-serve water section. The round ice cubes and lemongrass in the water are cute.

The authentic Vietnamese cuisine, which was prepared in Ho Chi Minh City, is generally a little sweet, and is delicious enough to suit Japanese tastes. The lunch was very filling and packed with vegetables, so it was great!
