[newly opened] Ginowan "Mapo tofu restaurant Fukuwarai" - I've never eaten such delicious mapo!Opens Along the pipeline road

I had lunch at "Mapo tofu restaurant Fukuwarai", which opened along the Ginowan City Pipeline road. The mapo tofu here is surprisingly delicious. If you like mapo and spicy food, you should definitely go!

This is the restaurant we were looking for, "Mapo Shokudo (Mapo tofu restaurant) Fukuwarai." This property was originally a Chinese restaurant called Tan Tan Tei, but after the restaurant closed, the exterior and interior were completely transformed. This is a new store that just opened in October 2022.

The restaurant has table seats and counter seats, and the number of seats is kept to a minimum to create a spacious space. The bright red chairs and exotic lighting give the restaurant a unique style. The counter seats are decorated with flower blocks, which is very Okinawan.

To order, you purchase a meal ticket from the ticket machine right at the entrance. During lunch time, you can enjoy the signature dish mapo tofu, as well as Chinese noodles and Braised pork rice as set meals, and there are also daily set meals, Tsubame-Sanjo style ramen, and take-out mapo tofu bento boxes available.

All the menu items are very appealing, so it's hard to choose. However, this is the only choice for my first visit. The mapo tofu set meal comes with rice, soup, side dishes, pickles, and a mini dessert in addition to the main dish of mapo tofu. While waiting for the food, the delicious aroma of garlic and seasonings wafts through the air, instantly whetting my appetite.

And when I tried it, it was just amazing. It was so delicious that I don't have time to write calmly about how the mapo tofu was even prepared in a bento box, and how the garlic aroma whetted my appetite. The first bite had a sweet taste, and then a wave of savory flavors and spiciness hit me. Apparently, this is a sister restaurant of the popular Naha restaurant "Borrachos," and that the recipe for the mapo tofu was developed by another famous restaurant in Kamakura, "Kakan." No wonder it's so delicious!

If you add a little of the Japanese pepper, Japanese pepper oil, and chili oil provided on the table, you can enjoy not only the spiciness but also the refreshing aroma. I once again realized that the spicier the mapo tofu is, the more delicious it is. It's a taste that you can't replicate at home.

By the way, the mapo tofu set meal is the best for the first time, but if you are coming for the second time or sharing with a companion, the Chinese noodle set meal is better. This Chinese noodle is just as delicious as the mapo tofu set meal. The rich soy sauce soup is the perfect match for the sardine broth.

Moreover, the noodles and ingredients are not skimpy. Two large, moist slices of pork are generously placed on top, and the aroma of plenty of green onions and mitsuba (Japanese parsley) is delicious.

In addition, the Chinese tea drink bar was available for free until 4pm. There was a wide variety of teas, including Tieguanyin Oolong Tea, Xiang Pian Tea, and Taiwanese Magnolia Oolong Tea, so I was wondering which one to choose... When I couldn't decide, the staff kindly said, "Please feel free to ask for a refill," and my stomach and heart were both satisfied. I will be coming here again and again!
